A body lift, also known as a lower body lift or Belt Lipectomy is a procedure offered by plastic surgeons. A body lift reshapes the abdomen (tummy tuck), hips, thighs (thigh lift) and buttocks (buttock lift). A body lift is performed on patients who have had either massive weight loss resulting in excessive sagging skin or on patients who have not had weight loss who just want to tighten excess or sagging skin.
A body lift is really two separate procedures combined into one. The front of the body is lifted with a tummy tuck, and the back of the body is lifted with a buttock lift. It can also be combined with liposuction for contouring the hips, waist and upper abdomen. A body lift can be done in one surgical session, or in stages, depending on the patients needs.
A Body Lift Accomplishes Several Goals
- Removes excess skin and fat in the abdomen, hips and lower back
- Lifts sagging tissue in the outer thighs and buttocks.
Anesthesia
A body lift is almost always done under general anesthesia. Your surgeon will discuss the anesthetic options and risks with you before surgery.
Recovery Time
Patients should plan to be off work for 3 weeks. Some patients can resume limited work functions after 2 weeks.
Body Lift Costs
The average surgeon's fee ranges from $10,000-$13,000. Hospital and anesthesia costs are approximately $3000- $4000. Prices will vary according to the surgeon's skill and area.
