Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal is by far the most preferred form of permanent hair reduction available on the market today. It is considered a relatively painless non surgical procedure, performed in a doctor's office on either men or women.
Shaving
This is the most common form of hair removal used and is not permanent. The hair usually starts to grow back in a matter of days and leaves hair stubbles when growing back. If one is not careful, this method can result in cuts and scarring.
Waxing
This is a popular method of hair removal but is not permanent. Waxing can be painful and cause irritation. The hair usually starts to grow back ranging anywhere from weeks to a few months.
Epilation (Tweezing)
This is a common form of hair removal that is not permanent. Hair can grow back anywhere from a few days to a few weeks.
Threading
Threading is done by twisting a thread in a manner that catches hairs allowing them to be pulled out. It is a quick procedure and is often used in place of plucking out the hairs. Hair can grow back anywhere from a few days to a few weeks.
Depilatories
These are creams that contain chemicals that dissolve the hair. Hair can grow back anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. Many of these creams can cause irritation to the skin and often emit a bad smell.
Electrolysis
Electrolysis is an alternative permanent hair removal method that has been used for over 125 years. It involves treating one hair at a time and is a good option for smaller areas (like eyebrows or upper lip) where precision is necessary. It does take considerably more treatments compared to laser hair removal to complete a large area, but is an option as well. At this time, it is as the only permanent option for very fine and light-colored hair.
