Laser hair removal works better on certain stages of hair growth. In order to know which stage it is, we should first get a quick review on the stages that hair growth goes through;
Hair goes through three different stages of growth. The names of these three stages are; anagen, catagen and telogen.
In the anagen stage, the hair is doing all of its growing. This is the stage where your hair is at its most active. Catagen is the stage where your hair is just sitting around. This stage is by far less active to that of the anagen stage. The telogen stage is where your hair is does all it's shedding.
So, which stage of hair growth is laser hair removal the most effective? The answer my friend is the anagen stage. That’s right. The anagen stage is where the pigment is able to actually absorb the laser energy which in turn is converted to heat, thus destroying the hair follicle. The other two stages of hair growth are the worst periods to receive the laser hair removal treatment.
There is one small problem. Your hair does not always go through all three stages at the same time. While certain areas of you body are in the anagen stage, another area of your body might be in the telogen stage. It is because of this reason that you will need more than one session of laser hair removal treatment. This allows the practitioner to have a better chance in upping the odds of removing unwanted hair on the anagen stage.
